Book Haul

July Book Haul – Part One

I didn’t buy as many books as I usually do, but I mostly went to the bookstore because I had $30 off of my purchase. I planned to only get one or two books, but of course that didn’t happen because I saw so many other books that I wanted. I had to put some back at the end, because I have SO many unread books that need to be read before I purchase more!!

So far this month I have bought:

A Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

A Kiss of Deception –

wpid-2015-07-05-18.16.31.png.png

Goodreads Description:

A princess must find her place in a reborn world.

She flees on her wedding day.

She steals ancient documents from the Chancellor’s secret collection.

She is pursued by bounty hunters sent by her own father.

She is Princess Lia, seventeen, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan.

The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can’t abide. Like having to marry someone she’s never met to secure a political alliance.

Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia flees to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—secrets that may unravel her world—even as she feels herself falling in love.

I’ve been reading a lot of books from the fantasy genre lately, and so I’m definitely excited to read this one! I also heard that it’s the first book in a series? I think that’s pretty cool, I love series, and if I enjoy this book I’ll totally be reading the next ones!

Emmy & Oliver –

Goodreads Description:

Emmy just wants to be in charge of her own life.

She wants to stay out late, surf her favorite beach—go anywhere without her parents’ relentless worrying. But Emmy’s parents can’t seem to let her grow up—not since the day Oliver disappeared.

Oliver needs a moment to figure out his heart.

He’d thought, all these years, that his dad was the good guy. He never knew that it was his father who kidnapped him and kept him on the run. Discovering it, and finding himself returned to his old hometown, all at once, has his heart racing and his thoughts swirling.

Emmy and Oliver were going to be best friends forever, or maybe even more, before their futures were ripped apart. In Emmy’s soul, despite the space and time between them, their connection has never been severed. But is their story still written in the stars? Or are their hearts like the pieces of two different puzzles—impossible to fit together?

Readers who love Sarah Dessen will tear through these pages with hearts in throats as Emmy and Oliver struggle to face the messy, confusing consequences of Oliver’s father’s crime. Full of romance, coming-of-age emotion, and heartache, these two equally compelling characters create an unforgettable story.

This book also sounds amazing, and quite original! I don’t know too much about this book because it is pretty new, but I’m excited to read it because I think I’ll really like it! 🙂

The Chronicles of Narnia – wpid-2015-07-05-18.17.21.png.pngI was so excited when I saw that this complete Chronicles was only $26! At Christmas I saw at my local bookstore that the complete series was over $100 so this was really amazing! I’ve loved the Chronicles of Narnia since I was young and it remains one of my favourite series (along with The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket). I’ve read this series like a million times, and I’m planning on re-reading it this summer! 🙂
